Remodel of an existing 2700 s.f. house built in 1948 on the Puget Sound in Shorewood. Two conditions suggested the need to completely remove the existing roof. First, the existing 2 x 4 roof members terminated abruptly at the top of the brick wall. The gutters actually rested on the top course of the brick veneer, and, as a result, there was significant moisture damage to the existing walls. Second, the “master bedroom” could only be accessed from a side stair from the kitchen and needed to be raised 30” to connect with the rest of the second floor for the creation of a master suite. In the end, the whole second floor and the kitchen/garage of the first floor were rebuilt from the framing.
